My third (and most likely last) exhibition for this year, Snapped, opens tonight at Atkins Technicolour, 89 Fullarton Road, Kent Town. For the exhibition, I've written a little about the image (for which I won a small prize) of a couple waltzing behind the glass entrance to the National Gallery of Victoria. For those who are unable to attend the exhibition, here's an exerpt:
The moment I fell in love with photography has nothing to do with me winning the competition and everything to do with releasing the shutter to that scene. In that fraction of second I knew I’d captured something richly evocative.
Photography is often perceived as voyeuristic, and there’s certainly an element of that, but for me it gets me out into the world as both observer and participant. I’m now firmly addicted to the inherent potential of my camera’s ‘click’!
For those of you who are able to attend tonight's opening, I look forward to your company!
