Lucia's is an Adelaide icon nestled in the equally iconic Central Market. Close to the court district, Gouger Street's bar and restaurant strip, Hilton Hotel, Carnegie Mellon and Flinders University campuses, and many a South Australian government office, this perennially favourite pizza and spaghetti bar enjoys a broad and loyal patronage.
Maria and Nicci are the warm and engaging proprietors, and their confidence in and love for their work, for Adelaide, and for life is as genuine as it is infectious. I recently met them over a late breakfast to discuss details for a small exhibition, and was touched by their unassuming generosity in agreeing to host my work (I later noticed that same generosity extends even to Lucia's website: how many cafés or restaurants share their recipes?!).
The exhibition, 'b⇔w', runs for four weeks from Fri 22 June to Fri 27 July. Images measure approx 660 x 900mm (framed), are available in editions of three, and can be purchased by telephoning 0425 095 459, or directly from Lucia's during the exhibition period....buon appetito!
