Preparations for my SALA exhibition are coming together, but just not quite 'right now'. All good things take time!
I can report that one image from the series has been shortlisted with eleven others for the SALA Advertiser SA Business Contemporary Art Prize, and the Centre for Creative Photography Latent Image Award for an emerging artist using photography. I'm also entering the series in the 2013 AIPP South Australian Contemporary Photographic Artist category.
I've been quite since returning from New Caledonia, and I've work to prepare for the 2013 Ballarat International Foto Biennale. It's all great fun, and while winning an award would be a great surprise and delight, I really do get quite a kick from just being shortlisted or participating. But more than anything, I'm consistently and happily amazed by the compliments, positive feedback and constructive suggestions I receive from strangers. It really is quite heartening that people who've never met me like are happy to discuss my work!
And with that in mind, I share another image from Hikari 505—this cool palette of blues and greys has the only representation of human figures from the series: two standing to the left of the frame, and one sitting on the right.
