a few of my favourite things

As our population races inexorably toward 8 billion, it seems easy to occasionally feel pessimistic about the future. A few of my favourite things samples my pursuit of beauty. Not as escape, but restorative; something I rarely admit. When I feel as if the world might be closing in, beauty is my succour. It revitalises me, and reminds me that not all is bad...and what is more, therein lies hope.

The exhibition will be on the mezzanine level and opens to the public on 15 November at the Adelaide Hilton, on Victoria Square, as part of the Adelaide's annual Feast Festival. Staff from the Hilton Adelaide and Feast Festival have really done a wonderful job in arranging the venue, and I thank them ever so kindly for their terrific work. I also thank Mr Joshua Rayner, Chair of the Board of the Feast Festival for his inspiration!

By the way, those who know me well might remember that many years ago—decades now—I once worked as a cocktail waiter in the Lobby Lounge bar at the Hilton Adelaide. That was when George Van Holst was Managing Director. It's a delight to return to my former employer, but in quite a different role. I'm very chuffed to be exhibiting as part of this year's Feast Festival, and to have my work shown at the Hilton Adelaide.
